چکیده
In this work, lossy distributed compression of a pair correlated sources is considered. Conventionally, Shannon's random coding arguments - using randomly generated unstructured codebooks whose blocklength taken to be asymptotically large are used derive achievability results. However, in some multi-terminal communications scenarios, codes with constant finite certain architectures leads improved achievable regions compared the conventional approach. other words, network communication there optimal value code for processing information sources. Motivated by this, scheme proposed which consists two codebook layers: i) primary has blocklength, and ii) secondary large. The performance analyzed steps. first step, characterization an inner bound region derived terms measures functions multi-letter probability distributions. next computable single-letter inner-bound extracted. It shown through example that resulting rate-distortion strictly larger than Berger-Tung region.

The Achievable Rate-Distortion Region for Distributed Source Coding with One Distortion Criterion and Correlated Messages
In this paper, distributed (or multiterminal) source coding with one distortion criterion and correlated messages is considered. This problem can be also called “Berger-Yeung problem with correlated messages”. It corresponds to the source coding part of the graph-based framework for transmission of a pair of correlated sources over the multiple-access channel (MAC) where one is lossless and the...
متن کاملAn Achievable Rate-Distortion Region for Multiple Descriptions Source Coding Based on Coset Codes
We consider the problem of multiple descriptions (MD) source coding and propose new coding strategies involving both unstructured and structured coding layers. Previously, the most general achievable rate-distortion (RD) region for the l-descriptions problem was the Combinatorial Message Sharing with Binning (CMSB) region. The CMSB scheme utilizes unstructured quantizers and unstructured binnin...
متن کاملRate Distortion Analysis in Distributed Video Coding
In recent years, distributed video coding emerged as an alternative to conventional video coding. While conventional video coding is based on motion estimation and compensation, distributed video coding makes use of the principles of distributed source coding developed by Wyner and Ziv. In this paper, we investigate the rate distortion tradeoffs in distributed video coding. We present a model f...
متن کاملA new achievable rate region for the interference channel
Abstruct-A new achievable rate region for the general interference channel which extends previous results is presented and evaluated. Tbe technique used is a generalization of superposition coding to the multivariable case. A detailed computation for tbe Gaussian cbaunel case clarifies to wbat extent the new region improves previous ones. The capacity of a class of Gaussian interference channel...
متن کاملRate-adaptive codes for distributed source coding
Source coding with correlated decoder side information is considered. We impose the practical constraint that the encoder be unaware of even the statistical dependencies between source and side information. Two classes of rate-adaptive distributed source codes, both based on Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes, are developed and their design is studied. Specific realizations are shown to be b...
